18.11.2008	Gathoni improves and is well, the RTL Nord Team will visit her on November 24th 2008, as we expect she will be out of intensive care by than.
18.11.2008	13:30h - news: Gathoni is out of ICU and moved to the regular ward. Her weight was 38Kg when she arrived in Germany, increased to 46,6 Kg prior the surgery - and lost 2 Kg during the process. She started to walk and is fine.
19.11.2008	Dr. Dodge-Katham called, Gathoni is doing fine, is on a regular station, no complications. The valve in her inplant didn't have to operate = pressure very good. On Nov. 24th we get details for the follow up, possible discharge from UKE maybe Nov., 26th 2008. After that the follow up proceedure
20.11.2008	Information from Gathoni's father: Gathoni start walking around, can drink and eat. Gathoni is saying Hi & greetings to us. She feels fine. She has to dring a lot of fluids to clean her system. Dr. Le mentioned that they are happy with her progress. - We say again "Thank you" to all of our supporters
21.11.2008	Information from Gathoni's father Bedan: Gathoni is fine and unchanged, she is al UKE-Eppendorf station N23, Kinderhaus.
23.11.2008	Gathoni is doing well and she is active. She is on diet because of  her pancrease has not come back to normal after the surgery. No more IV and lung exercise machine required, blood test scheduled for Nov., 24th 2008.
24.11.2008	Gathoni is getting better, she might be able to get out of diet food shortly. When she had a counseling by Dr. Dodge-Kathan at 14:00, RTL filmed her to report the up-dates. On Wednesday, there will be a decision when she can be discharged from the hospital and about her further appointment.

26.11.2008	Gathoni's father Bedan called, - the remaining hole in her heart became again subject for discussion - 1 additional catheter treatment may be required. We expect to get details by today or Nov. 27th 2008. Otherwise Gathoni is doing well.
26.11.2008	Our MdB O. Bernhardt called in and requested an update on Gathoni's status, - gladly given.
27.11.2008	Gathoni is discharged from UKE, next check up scheduled on Dec. 5th 2008
28.11.2008	Mr. Tietgen of KN is meeting with Gathoni and her father Bedan, talking about her situation and feeling.
	Possibly on 29th of Nov. The KN will report about Gathoni again. We shared our experiences openly, bit we asked not to report the negative aspects at this time - the future will tell.
	16:00h, Bedan calls and informed us that the check up in Kiel has been moved to Tuesday,  Dec. 2nd - because of Dr. Le want to do in personally - we appreciate this decision.
	Gathoni's father will not extent his visa due to his family situation, he must return to Kenya, asking his sister and us to take care of Gathoni.
	He got the impression that the hospital is adjusting Gathoni's treatment to his personal schedule, we will take care of her.
	Gathoni seems well, but she is not as strong as she believes, she needs attantion and observation.
	For members of our Verein fuer Menschen in Not further information is availabe through secure channels at this moment.
	Due to a discrepancy in statements of the int'l Office of the UKE we are facing higher cost.
	In addition we decided the following additional support:

	We have invested over 200 hours, about 1.600 letters and other means of communication, incl. Flyers a.s.o., all cost carried by the individuals of the supporting team, our organization "Menschen in Not" is not using any of the donation for other purposes than Gathoni's treatment.
	Today Gathoni received a small potable DVD-player with the copy of RTL's broadcatings as a memory, she was very happy.

26.11.2008	Aufgrund von Datenschutz-Bestimmungen dürfen wir Ihnen keine weiteren Informationen geben. Der Vater und die Tante haben alle Informationen erhalten.  Meaning; since we questioned the difference in the statements from the UKE they decided that we shall not receive the detailed information, even so legally the UKE is correct, but it was us who initiated everything and transferred medical information in the first place. Now, on Nov. 26th the UKE decided not to inform us - than - what about their legal status informing us between Oct. 10th through Nov. 26th 2008??

	During the treatment we received good news from Dr. Dodge-Kathami (Surgent) and other Dr. that everything went very well, no complications at all, we were happy. Even normal complications, which were expected, did not occur.
	But after Bild e.V. - Ein Herz für Kinder, kindly supported Gathoni we received the following message of the Int'l office:
17.11.2008	Sehr geehrter Herr Zander,
	leider müssen wir Ihnen mitteilen, dass es bei Gathoni einige postoperative Komplikationen gegeben hat, die den Aufenthalt auf der Intensivstation verlängern und die Kosten für die Behandlung erhöhen. Zum gegenwärtigen Zeitpunkt belaufen sich die Krankenhauskosten auf ca. 34.281,12€. Vom Verein Menschen in Not e.V. wurden bis jetzt 43.301,08€ eingezahlt, eine Krankenhausrechnung über 3.559,95€ wurde davon schon bezahlt, sodass noch 39.741,13€ auf dem Konto von Gathoni sind. Von Bild hilft e.V. liegt uns eine Kostenübernahmegarantie über 15.000,-€ vor, sodass wir insgesamt noch 54.741,13€ haben. Zieht man davon die gegenwärtige Krankenhausrechnung ab, verbleiben 20.460,01€. Es könnte sein, dass das Geld so gerade eben ausreicht, es könnte aber leider auch sein, dass wir um eine erneute Zahlung bitten müssen. Das hängt davon ab, wie schnell die kleine Gathoni sich erholt und nach Hause entlassen werden kann.
	Wir werden Sie engmaschig informieren und hoffen mit Ihnen und der Familie von Gathoni, dass sie sich schnell von der großen Operation erholt. Sobald sie nicht mehr auf der Intensivstation liegt, werde ich sie besuchen gehen.

02.12.2008	Nachricht von Fam. Gachie, Gathoni hat seit letzter Nacht Schmerzen beim Atmen und im linken Arm. Sie wurde sofort ins UKE gebracht, wir warten nun auf Informationen.  Message from Fam. Gachie, Gathoni got pain during breathing and in her left arm during last night, - she was transported to UKE.Eppendorf for check up, we are waiting for further information.
02.12.2008	Message from Bedan: At UKE Dr. Le recommended to close the remaining 2 holes after 4 Months by catheter. Her medicamentation gets finished by Thursday - but she has to remain on sildinafil. The echo was fine. The boy Sacha - who lives in the same appartment with Gathoni got the flu - we have to consider the arrangement. The next appointment at the UKE is on January 8th 2009.

	Gathoni geht es soweit gut, aber heute hörten wir das sie Anfang Januar einen weiteren Eingriff über sich ergehen lassen muss um 2 weitere Löcher in der Herzwand zu schließen, sehr teuere Medikamente sollen noch über vermutlich 4 Monate eingesetzt werden.

03.12.2008	Auskunft UKE, behandelnder Arzt: Gathoni soll das Medikament Sidenafil; 2 x 80mg täglich weiter einnehmen, die anderen Medikamente können abgesetzt werden, nächster Termin Januar 2009, Katheter ca. in 4 Monaten um die restlichen Löcher zu verschließen.
	As informed by UKE, Gathoni shall be provided with Sidenafil, 2 x 80mg daily, other drugs to be discontinued. Next check up early January 2009, in about 4 months it will be possible to close the remaining 2 holes in her heart through catheter
03.12.2008	Badan Gachie, Gathoni's father, is authorizing J. Zander for any legal decisions over Gathoni (Parental rights) from now on, because he has to return to Kenya to take care of his job and family.
03.12.2008	Bedan informed us that the hospital didn't advise him about the medicamentation, he just received a "slip" of what she was given at UKE. Thanks to the Doctor in charge we now know how to proceed (oral information), the medicamentation given to Gathoni are just sufficient until today, - a bit of struggle to get her drugs in time for tomorrow - but the problem is solved due to the cooperation of others, thank you.

	Monday through Thursday she is taking 1 h German lessons every day. In addition she follow her schools study plan on her own.

	vielen Dank für Ihre Mail!
	Ich möchte vorschlagen, dass die Rechtsabteilung des UKE eingeschaltet wird. Sie erheben Vorwürfe, die nicht der Realität entsprechen und die durch mehrere Zeugen widerlegbar sind. Die Fakten:
	-          ein Kostenvoranschlag ist eine prospekte Einschätzung über die geplante Behandlung; bei dem Mädchen sind erhebliche Komplikationen eingetreten, die die Behandlungskosten erhöht haben.
	-          Im UKE wird nach dem deutschen Abrechnungskatalog, der für alle Patienten gleich ist, abgerechnet. Rechtliche Grundlage ist ein Behandlungsvertrag, welcher in diesem Fall auch von 2 Seiten unterschrieben wurde.
	-          Man muss kein Mediziner sein, um sich vorstellen zu können, dass medizinisch immer Komplikationen entstehen können, die niemals voraussehbar sind;
	-          Hier hat sich niemand geweigert, Rechnungen vorzulegen und ich bitte Sie hier auf diesem informalen Weg, diese Behauptung nicht wieder zu formulieren.
	-          Es ebenfalls nie die Behauptung erhoben worden, dass andere Untersuchungsergebnisse abgewartet werden müssen.
	Sie dürfen immer davon ausgehen, dass die Patientin eine hoch-komplexe, komplizierte Behandlung bei einer sehr schwierigen Erkrankung erhalten hat. Die dafür entstandenen Kosten dürfen laut Vertrag über eine vollständig korrekte Rechnungslegung abgebildet werden. Ihre Anmerkungen sind Vorwürfe, keine Nachfragen, welche wir immer gerne beantworten. Vielleicht hilft es Ihnen, dass es dem UKE geht es immer um die Patienten und um eine 100% korrekte Abwicklung aller mit der Behandlung verbundenen Fragestellung geht. Insofern können Sie Ihre Fragen auch so adressieren und wir klären mögliche Missverständnisse und/oder fehlende Information gerne klären bzw. geben.
	Alle Rechnungen liegen schon länger vor, wir lassen juristisch klären, wer diese einsehen darf.

11.02.2009	Gathoni received a printer for her computer to continue her study.
	Kieler Nachrichten asked us about Gathoni, since the Verein Menschen in Not does not have any update we requested the KN to contact Gathoni's aunt.
12.02.2009	New medicamentation is supplied to her today.
	At the Messe in Stuttgart "IWA" Mr. Herrmann will collect donations for her case.

09.04.2009	Since Gathoni's aunt M. Gachie took over all responsibilities we didn't receive any information till today. Today we got a contact from Gathoni's father from Kenya informing us that the progress and handling is a mess up, that the family made a wrong choice asking her Aunt to take care. Gathoni has the second emergency surgery today at UKE, it looks very critical. We will get further information from her father later on.
12.04.2009	Gathoni's condition is not well. On advise of her Father Bedan and our lawyer we will stop informing on our home page for some time, until the lawyer cleared the coming progress against the UKE -Eppendorf.
14.04.2009	Bedan informed us that Gathoni's situation has improved.  She had her first Yogurt. We all hope it will go well from now on too.
20.04.2009	Gathoni left the clinic UKE after her emergency surgery very fast and is staying temporary at her other Aunt's place.  She is under risks of the surgery.  We wish her the very best.  She visited Family Zander for lunch today and we had 2 hours conversation. Gathoni has some problems eating, even so when she feels hungry.  We are sorry for her present situation and hope it will go well for her.
21.04.2009	Gathoni is back with her aunt M. Gachie after she moved to Kiel.  No further information available from that side.  Personal situation within the family will not be reflected here.
01.05.2009	Gathoni moved to Kiel.
23.05.2009	Gathoni is leaving Germany and return to Kenya on May 23rd 2009. We all wish her a long and healthy life, especially after what she went through and had to experience in Germany.
	We will turn to our next project now, hoping to help other people in need.
06.06.2009	Dear my Friend Joerg,
	We are fine and in health. Our Gathoni is fine and the Dr said his opinion is that her condition (as compared with her condition before she left for treatment in Germany) is very good.The lungs are fine and there is no evidence of water in her lungs.The next test and clinic visit will be by end month (June). The Echo sound test showed that there is still some blood seeping through the original hole patched by Dr. Khatami on Nov.2008.  The medical reports that Gathoni came with also report the same way.Dr's opinion is that the hole will likely patch up with time.  She is otherwise fine but we are ensuring that she does not overreach herself.
	We decided to keep Gathoni home and observe her for a time... till August so that she can meanwhile be attending clinic in Nairobi.She is happy to be back home and all of us are all still excited.
	We are able write to because I bought a modem and line for the laptop.The other day we were unable to talk you as you were busy. Later Gathoni was diverted to Marcel,s skype.. I hope you good people are fine and that the world financial problems hasn't affected C-Lux so badly.
	The computer keeps Gathoni busy in the day when she is not reading her books.She also  said that she left printer at Mary's.  (Aunt of Gathoni)
	Meanwhile the family is the proud owner of a 60 by 22 meters polythene greenhouse that I built using the finances you gave me.  I also used the money to install an electric pump with a 50 meters head strength, build a platform and put a plastic tank on it! It solves the problem of manually pulling water from our 80 feet well.  When we finally start harvesting then we shall be able to buy drip pipes and also look at the possibilities of harvesting more water from the greenhouse roof and the other buildings.  Today we manually water the 2 month old tomatoes which are likely to give us good returns.  You see, we have much to thank and remember you by.  Be blessed again and again.

03.07.2009	GDas UKE-Eppendorf ist bis Datum nicht in der Lage die Rechnung zu erstellen, und dies obwohl der Abrechnungszeitraum 31.12.2008 ist. Die  Rechtsanwalt  Dipl. Jur. Alexander Werner teile uns am 15.04.2009 mit, dass der notwendigen Anforderung nun nachgekommen wird und der überzahlte Betrag von "ca. 1.400,- Euro" an den Verein zurückgeführt wird. Das ist trotz verschiedener Mahnungen bis Datum nicht erfolgt. Resumee: Aufgrund der Vorkommen bei der Behandlung, der Unzuverlässigkeit der Int'l Patientenbetreuung, sowie der unredlichen Abrechnungsweise und dem damit verbundenen Vorgehen kann das UKE von ubs nicht wirklich empfohlen werden.
